We offer instruction for everyone from beginners to the professional career pilot. Our knowledgeable instructors have a combined experience of more than 50 years training pilots, and they take pride in making your experience pleasurable and productive.
Feel free to call for more information or to set up an appointment. Or just stop by. We'll give you a tour of our operation and aircraft and explain what you need to get started. We think you'll like what you see!
Beginning Pilots
The first step to getting a pilot's license seems like a huge one, but after you take it you'll wonder why you didn't start sooner. To learn how to take that first step, check out Learn to Fly or give us a call. We’ll be happy to give you a free consultation to let you know what it’s all about. We also have a designated pilot examiner on site available for added convenience when you’re ready to take that check ride.
If you’re not sure what your options are, there are now more choices than ever before. The Private Pilot License is the one most people know about but the Sport Pilot License is worth a look. You can get your license in less time (and money!) and fly some really cool airplanes. For more information on these options, click here. For more information or to get started, send Sue an email.
Handicapped Flight Training
YES, we can provide training to existing or future pilots in wheelchairs. We have a set of hand controls and have the experience to help you soar. For more information or to get started, send Sue an email. Or check out the following links:

Advanced Ratings and Tailwheel Endorsement
Southern Maine Aviation is a perfect place to acquire additional training. We have seasoned instructors with a wealth of diverse experiences to share. And if you haven’t thought about flying tailwheel airplanes, you should. For many of us, true flying doesn't mean nose wheels. From the Jenny to the Spitfire to the DC3, aviation includes wheel landings and grass strips. And TRUE aviation comes with a stick! Our Citabria is a perfect way to experience that and is even available for rent once you've been checked out in it by our staff. Please check out the details on our Advanced Ratings Page or some information on pilot careers.
