Our Aircraft Fleet

Southern Maine Aviation is proud of our well-maintained, modern fleet of aircraft. It's also surprisingly diverse. No matter what your flying style or needs, we have something for you.

Our Skyhawk SPs are the backbone of our training fleet. We have two identically equipped airplanes (one a 2002 and one a 2003 model) with modern avionics.

Both have KAP140 autopilots with altitude hold, King KLN94 GPS, Full IFR capabilities, leather interiors, and 180hp.

Our Skyhawk is a 1973 C172M model. It's no longer IFR certified but can be used for IFR training in VMC and is a very affordable solid trainer.

Citabria
Our 2004 Citabria 7GCBC is a great tailwheel airplane, with awesome responsiveness and visibility. If you haven't landed in the grass in a tailwheel airplane, it's something you have to try. It is available for solo rental, and dual instruction for spin training and limited aerobatics is available.

We also have 2 light sport airplanes (LSA)available for training and rental. Note that while sport pilots can only fly LSA airplanes, private pilots can fly standard or LSA airplanes. All hours are fully interchangeable, so you might want to try one of our sport airplanes even if you're a private pilot or working toward a private pilot license. They're good for all levels of training, and are a lot of fun!

Our Gobosh G700 (LSA) is an all metal low-wing airplane with an AMAZING view and responsive, yet docile handling.

We think it's a lot of fun!

Valor

The FPNA A22 Valor (LSA) is a blast to fly. It has unparalleled visibility and while it flies a lot like a kite, it's still very stable and predictable. You won't get anywhere very fast, but you'll sure enjoy the ride.

The Valor is also extremely spacious, with one of the widest cabins and leg room for even the tallest pilots and passengers.

Our Elite RC-1 Advanced Training Device is an FAA-Approved Simulator which can be used for instrument or VFR training, and can be set up for a variety of different aircraft types.

We think it is a great addition to 'real' airplane training, especially with various failure scenarios possible. Come give it a test flight!
